What is it?

It is encouraged for anyone with a chronic disease such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral vascular disease and peripheral neuropathy that they get an annual foot health check.

A foot health check is a comprehensive assessment that covers the following key points;

  1. Vascular Check (to ensure your blood flow is within normal limits)
  2. Neurological Assessment (to ensure your pain and sensory receptors are within a healthy range)
  3. Joint Range of Motion
  4. Muscle Strength
  5. Gait Analysis (computerized and/or visual)
  6. Footwear Check
  7. Orthotic Review

The relevant findings and recommendations from this assessment will be included in your patient records. Your GP will also receive a copy.
