Annual Foot Checks
What is it?
It is encouraged for anyone with a chronic disease such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral vascular disease and peripheral neuropathy that they get an annual foot health check.
A foot health check is a comprehensive assessment that covers the following key points;
- Vascular Check (to ensure your blood flow is within normal limits)
- Neurological Assessment (to ensure your pain and sensory receptors are within a healthy range)
- Joint Range of Motion
- Muscle Strength
- Gait Analysis (computerized and/or visual)
- Footwear Check
- Orthotic Review
The relevant findings and recommendations from this assessment will be included in your patient records. Your GP will also receive a copy.
